San Miguel Academy Places at the USRowing Youth Mid-Atlantic Championships
NEWBURGH, NY, May 17, 2026 — At the USRowing Youth Mid-Atlantic Championships in West Windsor, New Jersey, San Miguel Academy rowing teams earned multiple podium finishes while competing against some of the region’s strongest programs.
In the Men’s U15 4x division, San Miguel Academy Boys Boat 2 captured 3rd place. In the Women’s U16 4x division, the San Miguel Academy girls also earned a 3rd-place finish. Additionally, San Miguel Academy Boys Boat 1 placed 4th in the highly competitive Men’s U16 4x division.
San Miguel Academy’s rowing program continues to demonstrate that determination, discipline, and teamwork can overcome barriers often faced by low-opportunity programs. Unlike many rowing teams, San Miguel Academy does not have access to a boathouse or docks. Student-athletes take an active role in transporting, maintaining, and managing their equipment, gaining valuable responsibility and leadership experience alongside athletic training.
The mission of San Miguel Academy is to break the cycle of poverty through education. The rowing program plays an important role in expanding educational opportunities for student-athletes, many of whom would not otherwise have access to the sport without the support of San Miguel Academy and its sponsors.
The program has proven instrumental in helping students secure exceptional educational opportunities at the high school and collegiate levels. San Miguel Academy graduates are now competing at several New England boarding schools and on college rowing teams, continuing the tradition of academic and athletic achievement beyond graduation.
