Admissions

San Miguel Program welcomes students who demonstrate the will to learn and a desire to grow academically, personally, and spiritually. As a 12-year program, San Miguel supports students throughout their educational journey, from 5th grade through college and career readiness.

Admission is based on several factors, including the application process, student and family interviews, financial need, and participation in an incoming 5th-grade summer program. San Miguel Academy recognizes that every student has a unique learning style, and instruction is intentionally differentiated to meet the needs of each learner and help every child succeed.

One hundred percent of San Miguel Academy students qualify for free meals through the federal Child Nutrition Program. The student body is primarily Hispanic (80%) and African American (20%), reflecting the diversity of the Newburgh community.

Family partnership is central to the San Miguel model. Parents and guardians are expected to actively support their child’s pursuit of academic success, as San Miguel believes there is a strong connection between family involvement and student achievement.
