San Miguel Academy of Newburgh is an independent Catholic school, working to break the cycle of poverty through education. Students are engaged year-round in a safe and positive learning environment, providing them with a high-quality education that creates opportunities for them after leaving San Miguel Academy. Newburgh is a city characterized by systemic poverty and unrelenting violence. It is consistently ranked among the most violent cities in the State of New York.
Since opening as a middle school in 2006, San Miguel Academy has grown into the multi-faceted San Miguel Program. Our method centers around a 12-year commitment to each student and their family which is integral to changing the trajectory of our students’ lives. San Miguel Program is 100% scholarship-driven.

Through our Graduate Success Program, San Miguel Academy remains actively involved in students’ lives long after middle school graduation. Through after-school and summer tutoring, mentoring, test preparation, supplemental financial assistance, internship placement, career guidance, and emotional support, we help students navigate high school, college, and early career pathways with confidence.
