Programs

San Miguel Academy is a scholarship-driven middle school breaking the cycle of poverty through education. Since 2006, we have served students from low-income families in Newburgh, New York, providing a safe, structured, year-round learning environment in one of the state’s most economically challenged communities. The program centers on our 12-year commitment to student success through five components:

San Miguel Academy of Newburgh, a 5th–8th grade middle school with an innovative project-based curriculum, focused on closing academic gaps and building strong foundations in STEM and career readiness.

After School Enrichment, with activities ranging from aviation studies in our newly dedicated Steve Beck Aeronautical Science Center to our renowned Rowing Program.

Summer Scholars Program, which extends the school year into the summer months and provides continued intensive academic tutoring, focusing on gaps in math and reading, while keeping students safe and away from the violence that permeates the city of Newburgh.

Graduate Success Program, working closely with families to expand their students’ options for high school, college, and careers, providing placement support, test preparation, tutoring, mentoring, internship placement, and counseling services
