Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics – S.T.E.A.M.

A key addition to the PBLprogram, is our integrated S.T.E.A.M. program. Here, students are introduced to the principles of Design thinking and apply classroom content. Students are able to explore various electronic tools, such as MayKey MayKey, Arduino, LittleBits, soldering circuits as well as 3D-printing. Students design, construct and test prototypes, evaluate their creation and repeat the steps until they achieve their goal. S.T.E.A.M. program also introduces students to robotics in the form of Ozobots and Vex robotics. Both programs are an introduction to how robotics work and the basics of coding; both key components to be successful in the 21st economy. Students grow and test different plants in the school’s Hydroponic garden. All of these activities are directly linked to literacy in the classroom and lead to projects across the curriculum.

San Miguel Academy of Newburgh admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
